Visitors to Naxos Island will want to see all of the beaches, which are known for their white sand and crystal clear water.Saint George Beach is in Naxos Town, the capital of Naxos. The beach has very thin sand and the shallow water makes it safe for children. There are taverns and cafes on the beach, which are great for a snack, or a quiet dinner on the beach.
Many believe that Saint Prokopios is the most beautiful of the Naxos Beaches. The coarse sand beach with calm water is located 3 kilometers from the airport. Visitors will find taverns, snack bars and restaurants on the beach.
At 6 kilometers from Naxos Town, is a short walk from Saint Prokopios. Like most Naxos Island Beaches, you will usually find a crowd. Sun umbrellas and sun beds are available to rent and there are plenty of places for snacks.
Plaka Beach is a white sandy beach, which has been called the most beautiful beach in Greece. The beach is quite popular with families with children. There is a water sport center where surfing equipment can be rented. Plaka is the only one of the Naxos island beaches where nudity is permitted.
Mikri Vigla is 17 kilometers from Naxos Town. It is often referred to as the “Surfers Beach” as it is perfect for surfing. The food served on Mikri Vigla is of excellent quality. Alyko Beach is a little bit further at 21 kilometers from Naxos Town. The beach is very isolated and there are only a few taverns on the beach.
Apollonas is 30 kilometers from Naxos. It is also an isolated beach but has excellent restaurants that serve fresh fish. Visitors will find that there are hotels, rooms and studios for rent on most of the beaches.
